This is an important start in the development of the University, marking the first official introduction of CMC University as a pioneering digital university. The event also contributes to affirming the University's position in the higher education system of Vietnam with the mission of training high quality human resources in science, technology and innovation for the country.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - President of CMC Corporation and President of CMC University Council - enthusiastically said: "The time has come for CMC to take on a greater responsibility, which is to engage in the cause of training quality people to repay what the country has given us. That is why CMC chose to invest in higher education and establish CMC University, with the aim for it to become a digital and multidisciplinary university according to international standards to train high quality human resources and create Digital Thinkers in order to conquer the digital world for better social development and for the construction of a strong and prosperous Vietnam.”

 Mr. Phan Tam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications highly appreciated the establishment of CMC University: "The model of digital university that CMC University and its strategic investor CMC Corporation are aiming for is the solution to the problem of digital human resources that Vietnam is very in need of. Ministry of Information and Communications believes that CMC University will have its own approach to digital transformation and come up with a CMC-version of digital university to cultivate outstanding digital engineers and leaders for the country. This will be a critical contribution of CMC University to the national digital transformation."

In the context of globalization and the technological boom of the fourth industrial revolution, higher education is the origin of innovation and creativity along with the development of digital economy, digital society, science and technology. Higher education produces high quality and qualified human resources, as well as creates scientific and technological knowledge and plays a key role in the development of science and technology of the country. The digital university model is the solution regarding human resources for digital transformation, not only in Vietnam but also around the world.

CMC University is aspired to build a digital university that produces liberated Digital Thinkers in terms of knowledge and skills, who can create and master technologies and become the force to build a digital future, digital nation and digital world. To fulfill its mission as the leading digital university of Vietnam, CMC University aims to switch from being a "smart and innovative university" in 2022-2032 to a "research university" after 2032. The University's top goal is to become a university of technology with strong areas of training including Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics - Telecommunications and other fields associated with the development of science and technology and the digital economy of the country, with medium scale of 20 to 30 thousand students in 2039.

Also at the launching ceremony and opening ceremony of Cohort 1, CMC University signed memorandums of understanding (MOU) with members of CMC Corporation as well as leading international partners, including: National Innovation Center (NIC), Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) - Japan, and Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) - Japan. Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) was established in 1963 in Kyoto and is the first educational institution for computer training in Japan. In 2004, KCG established Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) - the first post-graduate IT training institution in Japan. In 2005, KCG became the pioneer in deploying an advanced E-learning system in Japan, making E-learning courses rich and diverse. 

The signing of memorandums of understanding to cooperate with such partners is aimed at promoting innovation and transfer of technology as well as solutions for digital transformation, digital science and technology applications and digital space development; creating conditions for lecturers and students of CMC University to promote research and professional exchange among researchers and exchange students in internship periods at enterprises and other projects. Thereby, it contributes to training high quality human resources to meet the output quality according to the actual needs of enterprises.

Mr. Phung Viet Thang – Director of Business and Government of Microsoft Vietnam - a leading partner of CMC Corporation commented: “We see all the factors regarding environment, background, tools and creativity with a learner-centered approach in the strategic vision, orientation and plan of CMC University. In recent time, Microsoft and CMC Corporation, in particular CMC University have had high-level discussions leading to a shared vision as well as implementation plans. Microsoft will support and accompany CMC University in order to successfully build the first Digital University in Vietnam with Microsoft technologies”.

Also on this occasion, the University honored new students with outstanding achievements with "CMC Liberation" scholarship, which covers 100% of tuition fees. The budget is taken from "CMC- Because you are worthy of it" scholarship fund with a total value of 69 billion VND in 2022. 

With the advantage of being a member of CMC Corporation, CMC University actively exploits the strengths of the shared use of information resources by building an integrated and unified database and shared resources, developing a shared and open repository of scientific data and materials for research, shared laboratory systems, etc. The university applies central monitoring system, classroom monitoring system, security monitoring system, smart classroom, application for connection between lecturers and students via smartphone, etc. All procedures, examinations, assessments, learning materials, electronic libraries, etc. are digitally transformed to be "Paperless, Cashless and Touchless"; thus strongly promote digital transformation in activities, from digital learning system, digital research system to digital management information system and others.
