CMC Innovation Fund strengthens IT Start-up connection
This is a program hosted by BK Fund in Hanoi to connect and share information for investment in startups/spinoffs/enterprises and individual customers through practical activities with the participation of many large enterprises.
The program attracted more than 120 delegates and guests
Within the program framework, a workshop to share stories of technology investment at large enterprises such as: CMC Corporation, Austdoor Group, venture capital funds like BK Fund or Thinkzone, etc. attracted a lot of guests and participants, thereby showcasing the abundant financial and professional support for startup/spinoff community in the present Vietnamese startup ecosystem.
Attending the program, Mr. Nguyen Duy Viet - Head of Investment, Acquisition and Merger of CMC Corporation delivered a presentation on startup in IT field. "When cooperating with CMC, BK Fund's startups will have a great advantage in terms of market: CMC currently has offices in nearly 30 countries around the world and is exporting software to many major markets such as: APAC, Japan, South Korea, USA, Europe, etc. Along with that is the advantage of technical experts. CMC is proud to be the first private corporation in Vietnam to have a technology research and application center (CMC ATI) to create Made In Vietnam products, "said Mr. Nguyen Duy Viet.

The representative of CMC further added that CMC has been focusing on investing in technologies such as: IoT, Cloud, Security, Big data – AI, Robotics, etc. through the search and development on ideas, products, solutions and services on technology platforms. CIF was founded in 2017 and operates under a venture capital model, with positive support from CMC Corporation. The fund's capacity is 50 billion VND. Every year, CMC will appropriate at least 10% of its business profits to the fund.
Earlier, speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Dang Chinh - Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology emphasized: “More than ever, the operation of BK Fund and the network of investors serve as an important link to the Startup Ecosystem of HUST and HUST alumni network. These activities are much promoted by the university to help its student develop further... so that the success of alumni and investors is also our success."
According to a report at the 2023 Annual Investor Meeting, BK Fund has evaluated 200 startup projects and disbursed investment fund for 7 large projects. Notably, in its new orientation and policy in 2023, BK Fund will focus on the fields of biotechnology, chip design and development, AI applications for Education - Economy - Social Affairs, etc.
At the event, Dr. Nguyen Quan - Former Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of HUST alumni network talked about BK Fund's orientation in the coming time: “HUST is a global technology university of Vietnam. To date, we have over 200,000 alumni who are working in all economic and social sectors of the country... BK Fund's Investor Meeting has discussed and made the decision that BK Fund will raise its capacity, calling for alumni and other non-alumni investors to make contribution to the fund. We hope that in the next year, BK Fund will grow as we all expected."

Notably, at BK Investor Network 2023, participants have the opportunity to experience technology products provided by startups/spinoffs and listen to the impressive presentation of 5 potential Open Pitch startups, namely: Lancs, Apicoo, Pega, DeepB, and ATM Nha. In addition, signing ceremonies for investment and cooperation in technology research and development between many institutions and organizations have taken place.
